U17 & U19 FC Bascome Bermuda Season 2022/2023

Mission: PUTTING PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRESSION AT THE CENTER, HELPING OUR PLAYERS FULFILL THEIR AMBITIONS, BOTH ATHLETICALLY AND ACADEMICALLY, WHILE CHALLENGING THEM TO PERFORM AT LEVELS WHERE THEY CAN COMPETE INTERNATIONALLY.

A message from our Founder Andrew Bascome

We are continuing our mission to create a more professional approach to player development in order to give them a greater chance and opportunity to compete at the highest level in our region. We are picking up where we had to abandon these plans due to all Covid restrictions and limitations.

Throughout the years, we’ve seen a significant drop in the number of players between U15 and U23 on island. Bascome Football Company has addressed this by making an investment in purchasing the USL 2 franchise team; FC Bascome Bermuda. Therefore, we need a youth programme that will help us develop young talented players to take advantage of this great opportunity. An opportunity to play in front of top college and professional coaches every summer. 65% of MLS players are drafted from this league.

FC Bascome Bermuda will provides an outlet for players aged between 17 and 23. In order to properly prepare the players for this task, we will also enter U13, U15 and U19 teams into the annual USL Academy Cup, held in Tampa, Florida every Easter break.

In three years, I envision to have many positions taken in the USL senior team by players who have developed through our programme. We hope this will inspire parents to invest in our programme to help us reach our mission.

As a former Bermuda Senior and Youth National Coach, I have seen our deficiencies at the highest level and am fully committed to designing a programme that caters in addressing them.

Bascome Football Company is making a plethora of changes in the approach Bermuda is taking towards football. We’re challenged to create a positive and professional environment that will assist us to reach our goal.

To do this, we have made the following changes in our programme:

  1. Continuous development of our programs and coaches through collaboration with international coaches and organizations

  2. Integration of optional futsal, strength and conditioning, and advance technical training with video analysis, to improve the fundamental skills of the players.

  3. Optional extension of the training season to equalize international standards (September through June)

Measuring Player Performance

n order to monitor player growth and development, it is necessary to have a methodology to generate individual player profiles. (This part of the program hasn't been properly implemented yet due to Covid restrictions and cancellations.)

This includes:

  • Regular assessments with timely feedback performed by our professional staff
  • Continuous skills development and confirmation when important key stages are consistently mastered
  • Identifying areas where specific and targeted training is required for continued growth of the player

Program Objectives

Bascome Football Company is ultimately created for the dedicated and passionate players that are committed to the game and have consistently demonstrated a respect for the game and what it takes to improve. The goal is to prepare each player coming into our programs, regardless of their starting point, with the tools and knowledge that can help them reach such target and to allow them to further their career as both a football player and as citizens of Bermuda and the world.

  • A structured curriculum that promotes age appropriate skill development

  • Continued work on technical capabilities, as a sound technical competence is the essence of becoming successful in today’s game

  • Mental capacity & speed of thought to allow the players to use their technical skills in competitive situations

  • Strength and Conditioning as both an integrated and separate activity to improve the players physical capabilities to be able to meet the challenges of today's game

  • Futsal in order to further improve on the technical skills and capabilities in a more creative and expressive setting

  • An enjoyable & challenging environment with continuous feedback, motivating the players to improve

  • Emphasizing long-term benefits rather than short-term gain

  • Teachable life skills that will be important as they grow with the sport, now combined with recruitment requirement and personal development to succeed
